This theme group has an approach: Scale/ing. A different prinicple to what I usually choose but am up for the challenge. The design is a inter-cultural community learning space where it can be a mixed use development to have goals to give opportunities to everyone to experience cultural, religious and social diversities amongst the Brisbane community. The working of scale comes into play through creating and organising space that work with human beings. There will be complex activities to be explored and presented on this tricky site so it will require me to think out of the box. As Davor has stated "I'm giving you free will". He doesn't want the computer work to hinder our designs and go all out. That can be deadly!! and confusing.
My tips into thinking outside the box:
- Brainstorming Diagrams
- Exploring existing designs
- Free Hand Sketches, concept models and hopefully to learn 3D computer programming that I can have renderings for in the future. A goal of mine before the end of semester.
A tip given; pushing boundaries of stereotypes and be provactive towards Brisbane's future. The design needs to incorporate the wider context of Brisbane as it is to celebrate the BRISBANE CULTURE.
Davor's insight into these projects:
A Small Manifesto for this theme group this semester is:
"CHANGING THE SCALE CHANGES THE ATMOSPHERE“ quoted by Junya Ishigami.
An interesting approach which I have understood it be one to grabs one attention; to mismerise tourists; explore possiblities; make a statement and all whilst changing the state of the atmsophere interiorly or exteriorly in proximity or to the wider context as a whole."CHANGING THE SCALE CHANGES THE ATMOSPHERE“ quoted by Junya Ishigami.
